The Importance of Stress-Management for Those Who Serve

November 27, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Do you ever feel like you need restoration from the intensity of your work benefiting others?
Join us for a workshop that will teach you about mindfulness, well-being and inner reflection — practices that will build your presence of mind, increase your capacity to cope with life’s stressors, and help you engage in more thoughtful discourse and decision-making. Further learn about the remarkable, mind-body trauma-healing method that Global Grassroots has been utilizing with women genocide, gender-based violence and war survivors in East Africa.
This practice-based seminar will leave you feeling more balanced and relaxed, and will provide you with:
  • Tools to help you identify negative coping mechanisms, including unconscious patterns of thinking and behavior
  • Mindfulness and breathing practices for mental, emotional, and physical well-being
  • Proactive strategies for coping, building deeper self-awareness, and enhancing your capacity for self-care
This interactive seminar for stress-management and resiliency will draw upon current research in neuroscience, interpersonal biology, psychology and the ancient traditions of breath in facilitating practices for mental, emotional and physical benefits, including an evidence-based program for chronic stress and post-traumatic stress. Having enhanced their capacity for self-care, participants will begin to uncover the relevance of wellbeing and mindful leadership to effective social change.
Gretchen Ki Steidle, Founder & President of Global Grassroots, is a certified Integrative and Coherent Breathwork Practitioner, and has been delivering breath-based resilience training and trauma healing globally since 2005, including with Rwanda genocide survivors, Haiti earthquake survivors and first-responders, Hurricane Katrina survivors, university activists, and mental health and health care professionals. Workshops have been offered at institutions including the Skoll World Forum, Omega Institute, Kripalu Institute, Wellbeing Project, Dartmouth College and University of Virginia, among others. Global Grassroots, a partner and grantee of the Imago Dei Fund and NEID Women’s Giving Circle, supports vulnerable women and girls in becoming mindful leaders in advancing their own ideas for social change.
This event is hosted by Imago Dei Fund. Light breakfast will be served.
