Recognizing Humanitarian and Human Rights Visionaries – The Aurora Humanitarian Prize and Humanitarian Initiative

With an unprecedented 65 million people displaced by war and conflict and humanitarian crises set to worsen in 2018, new humanitarian inspiration and approaches are needed. Join us for a conversation with  Noubar Afeyan  and  Ruben Vardanyan , two of the founders of  The Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity and the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative  to learn about the origins and aspirations of this multi-faceted humanitarian platform. They will also share the findings of the  2017 Aurora Humanitarian Index  and how they are using their platform to generate greater awareness of our common humanity and the need for action.
The Aurora Prize selection committee includes  George Clooney , actor and activist;  Vartan Gregorian , Co-founder of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative and President of Carnegie Corporation;  Leymah Gbowee , Nobel Laureate and Liberian Peace Activist;  Mary Robinson, Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former President of Ireland;  Samantha Power , former US Ambassador to the UN;   Bernard Kouchner , Co-founder, Médecins Sans Frontières and Former French Foreign Minister;  Hina Jilani , Former United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders;   Lord Ara Darzi , Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London;  Shirin Ebadi , Human Rights Lawyer and Iran’s first female judge; Nobel Laureate;  Gareth Evans , President Emeritus of the International Crisis Group and former Australian Foreign Minister; and  Oscar Arias,  Two-time President of Costa Rica and Nobel Laureate.
